Falafel Pitas with Aioli

An easy dinner without meat or pack leftovers as the work or school lunch others will envy. Falafel and Praise Deli Style Classic Aioli were made for each other.


Time Saver Tip: Use ready-made falafel balls from the supermarket.

What You'll Need

  • Falafel balls
  • 2 x 400g tin chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 small brown onion, roughly chopped
  • ½ cup coriander, chopped leaves and stems
  • 4 tbsp plain self-raising flour
  • 2 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 red chilli, deseeded
  • olive oil
  • Pita Pockets or Wholemeal Wraps
  • Praise Deli Style Classic Aioli
  • baby spinach leaves
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 Lebanese cucumber, sliced

What to Do

  1. In a food processor, add all ingredients for the falafel balls. Process until smooth. Roll the mixture in your hands into a 3cm balls and flatten slightly.
  2. Shallow fry in 2cm of olive oil until golden brown, turning when necessary. Lift out and drain on several layers of kitchen paper.
  3. To serve, place some baby spinach, sliced tomato and cucumber in the pita pocket or on the wrap. Add 3 or 4 falafel balls then drizzle with generous amount of Aioli.
